I'm happy to see all the Kinks talk. *S* Check out the album Arthur if you haven't already, besides the other Kinks stuff mentioned. Lots of similarities between the early Kinks power chords and The Hives.

yeah!
the kinks were playing an early form of punk music on their first records. but a lot of sixties bands had that sound such as The Sonics and The Trashmen and Link Wray, who was a true innovator on the guitar. Run Chicken Run is genius! It'd be cool if The Hives did a cover of that.
