eh chill out man I've never heard so many songs from one band on ads as much as I have from The Who. And most of us here love The Who. So a Hives song turns up on a TV spot, that's good! It's not like they're making a mockery of the songs. I used to take a lot of resentment when The Who's "Bargain" was used to describe good deals on "low APR financing previously owned vehicles" but ya know it's just part of the business. Anyone seen the video clip from The Essential Clash DVD where they're asked about "selling out"?

gimmebrains registered: 4/4/2005 00:00 posts: 109	i have the dvd i havent seen that bit.what do they say? its weird cuz i love the clash and what they stood for but they let one of their songs be used on an advert. its not so much that the music is being played on TV, that's still annoys me but its the fact that its being used to sell something. a piece of music, a piece of art, is being used to sell some stupid product. its wrong, wrong, wrong.

yeah but its WRONG!!! i'm saying its a BAD choice. music shouldn't be used to sell things on adverts! it goes against everything that music should be about. but then the hives aren't a political band i guess. the clash were tho and they still had a song on an advert, i guess everyone succumbs eventually. even bob dylan was in an advert recentely, the same man who sang "advertisments they con you into thinking you're the one that can do what never been done, that can win whats never been won. meantime life outside goes on all around you". yeah, thanks for that bob.

rtgwer but yea. it seems like they always play the hives and the strokes and the vines and white stripes and all that in the backgrounds, but all the vids they play suck! i think its because the MTV people actually knows where the musics at, but the public all does acid! it really makes me mad tho, i mean, the hives are so upbeat and good that they are perfect for commercials, but their perfect for everyone!
