First time hearing the greatest band ever
I must admit somthing: Whenever The Hives came on MTV or VH1, I would always change the channel saying, "S-T-U-P-I-D" But when I got Madden 2005 for Christmas, I was immediately hooked on the song "Two-Timing Touch and Broken Bones." I couldn't get that song out of my head, so I listened to samples of the album on Amazon. I was loving it already, so I went out and bought T-Hives, and I've been listening to it every day since.

i'm kind'uva Hives Noobie
Technically the first time I heard/saw them was at the MTV awards when they performed Main Offender, But I didn't really think much, but I remember thinking the main guy was really cool for saying "I know you want us to play more, but that's all the time we have - so you can turn off now!". I was like 'heh heh when im famous im gonan do something cool like that'.

But the first time i REALLY listened to the Hives was back in January. I was just sitting in my room watching just flicking through channels, and the Punk Show came on Much Music, so I decieded to watch some. So than George Stromboloupolous (thats his real name i love it) introduced a certain band called, "THE HIVES". I had heard their name before, and remembered the performance from MTV. So i watched, and saw this crazy guy howling and was like "whoa! what is this?!".

Than I started to really really really really like the beat of the song, and thought the guy on drums was amazingly cool. So I wrote down "the hives - see the idiot walk" on some scrap paper so I could later find out more.

After I realized the song was actually "walk idiot walk" i started downloading more of their music and the rest was history.

Heh, it's funny cause I rememer having to copy and paste "Howlin Pelle Almqvist" cause i couldn't spell his last name. I actually told myself "remember this moment when you couldn't spell almqvist cause I know this band's gonna really become a obsession." LMAO

Currently, I own 5 Hives CDs. (BL, VVV, TH, YNFB, and Walk Idiot Walk single). I intend on buying more. I have random printed Hives photos on my walls. I post here! (thank god), and everyone at the my school knows that the hives are just "Kelly's thing." I LOVE THEM. more people should!

Heh, the other day in History we had to color this map. And for Sweden I made it look all pretty and glorious, so when My teacher saw it he was like "Why is Sweden highlighted?" and I innocently was like "I don't know, it's just a great place!" and than he was like "Oh wait, I forgot, your bands from there. Right - I gotcha'"

I laughed quite hard.

lol today we had to get needles at school, and when i was getting mine the nurse said "if get hive

 The First TIme was.....
The reason that I started to listen to THE HIVES was once that I was flipping through the channels when on Mtv the "Hate to say I told you so" Video came on, and I was imediatly hooked on the showmanship that these guys had; specially the way that Nicholaus Arson is bouncing around while he is playing, I thought it was the coolest.

*******
I later found myself drunk at a party, and when I decided to go get some sleep in a friends car, he had the Veni Vedi Vicious cd. I noticed it had the "Hate to say I told you so" so I listened to it over and over until I learned the song and the alcohol level in my body went down. I then listened through the whole cd three times and since then I knew these guys were going to be in my favorites.

The thing that sealed the deal was going to Las Vegas to see them at the Hard Rock Cafe live; the best show that I've ever been to.

That's my story.

The first I heard of the Hives was 'Hate To Say I Told You So" on a complilation album I'd got.
I really liked the song, and so I got Veni Vidi Vicious but didn't actually like the other songs on there. Consequently, the CD remained at the bottom of my collection for months on end without being listened to.
However, one day I dug it out and found that, the second time round, I really liked it.
I always find that the music artists that take time to grow on you are the ones you end up liking the most in the end.

which is annoying because i hate MTV. i had heard of the hives before but i first heard hate2sayitolduso on MTV.
"i don't want my mtv"
my sister just gets all her music tastes from mtv, they just spoon feed you. i prefer finding out about music through people and second hand record shops

 Hey ya!
I'm glad u asked - let me tell u my story - u won't believe it - But it is True!
it was summer in seattle - the Hives show at the Showbox was advertised and tix went on sale a couple of months b4 the show. the mooney Suzuki were playing with them on the ads, and i had heard of them b4 - thay played a brilliant set that night-
So there was a big write-up in a couple of the local papers about the hives and their Skyrocketing Fame on the Success of Veni Vedi Vicious, and mostly talked about Brash young pelle and how he reminded people so much of a youn mick jagger and all...,
So - when the hives hit the stage - they walked right past me- and i had to laugh- icouldn't believe it- Let's face it ; Mattias & Vigilante they don't look "the Part" But as soon as they started playing - i understood- cuz they didn't need no warm-up man. They just started rockin and never stopped.
I was lucky to be right at nicArson's feet - where i will forever choose to be! what a show! what a Band! that's my story

Sadly,
it was on the Spider-Man movie soundtrack. I got it for Christmas and said "hey this is a good song" (Hate to Say I told you So). I only knda liked them. Then I saw a picture in SPIN magazine and said "Hey! They wear suits!" Then I liked them. Then I got the Walk Idiot Walk single. Then I loved them. Then I got Tyrransaurus HIves. Then I Really loved them. Then I got Veni Vidi Vicious. Then I was a drooling slobbering Hives maniac choking on my own stokedness.
