 okay
Sorry to do thi on a Hives forum. I own all The Hives albums apart from Barely Legal (VVV, YNFB and TH) and I would just like to say that BARELY LEGAL is absolute rubbish! I listened to it 5 times and I acknowledge that yes, it was made in '97 but still. Apart from Hail Hail Spit 'N' Drool, A.K.A. I-D-I-O-T, Here We Go Again and Automatic Schmuck (all on YNFB) the album is total garbage. I got a refund. But rest assured I still love The Hives, and thankfully they have grown out of making such woeful music.

Very sorry, didn't mean to offend. This is just one person's opinion.

wow..i am speechless...

i know it's a personal opinion, but i wouldn't call it "crap". when i first bought it i listened to that cd and that cd alone for at least three weeks before poppin' anything else in. I think it's an incredible album.

How can you not like Wicked One, Theme From, Blackjack and Closed for the Season?

For me, songs improve with familiarity, and at first I just thought of this album as OK, but now I can sing along and I know each second of the album, it's better.

Wow!
Barely Legal wasn't my first taste of The Hives but it's an amazing album...if you listen to all the cds in chronological order you can hear how they've changed. I love Barely Legal and you should too!

Hey, nopun, do you like the AKA IDIOT EP tracks? (Untutored Youth to Mad Man on YNFB) They're in the same style as Barely Legal...

And you like the four tracks from Barely Legal on YNFB, they're not any better produced or less noisy than the rest of the album.

I'm pretty sure you'll grow to like the album.

It's a good album because I think it shows the moment in the recording life of THE HIVES in which they left the typicall garage punk band sort of sound and started to be unique and genuine as far as recording albums went.

But all of THE HIVES albums are awesome.
In concert they're 10x better.
