TiVo is Awesome
Imagine you’ve just gone out to eat with your parents and you all of the sudden realize! O crap! I’m missing the Bachelor! Then you start to cry because you will never know if John chose Tabitha or Patricia….. Now, imagine that a smarter more sophisticated person has just gone out to eat again with hisser parents, and they realize again. O crap! I’m gonna miss the bachelor! I’ll never know if John chose Tabitha or Patricia. But then, they realize, “O yea, I’ve got TiVo… thank God! Then the next day at school they are talking about how awesome the Bachelor was the night before and how Patricia won his heart when he met her parents. And you, sadly, are outed from the conversation and lose all your friends… because you don’t have TiVo. TiVo was founded in 1997 by Mike Ramsey and now has 1.9 million subscribers and it is growing by the day. Some people say that they would rather use a VCR than go out and buy TiVo, they say that using a VCR is cheaper. Well, if you think about it, it isn’t. You Can but a 140 hour TiVo box for only 250 dollars and then 12.95 per month after that. Now, a VCR is only about 80 dollars new nowadays. But, with the TiVo Box you can record then delete, then record and delete. With tapes, if you keep recording over them the tracking gets pretty crappy. Plus, you have to keep buying tapes at 3 dollars a tape with only 4 hours recording time in LP mode your already up to 105 more dollars just to equal the TiVo capacity your already up to about 200 dollars. Plus you have to deal with the hassle of rewinding and maybe a tape could break, with TiVo all u have to do is go up to the show you want to record, push the record button and then set it for all the time or once. Yes, it’s that easy. Also with TiVo you can record two shows at the same time! If you can find a VCR that does that, let me know. You can even get a recorder with a DVD burner on it, sure, you can get that with a VCR, but for an extra 150 dollars. According to a poll taken at TiVo.com 98% of TiVo subscribers quote couldn’t live without it. So, maybe if they are skeptic at first, they aren’t now. And 40% said that they would rather disconnect their dog gone cell phones before getting rid of TiVo. Say you get home and find that you’re 30 minutes into a really good ball game, and instead of jus watching the second half, you can rewind to the beginning, because TiVo automatically stores the most recent 45 minutes of the channel its on. Also, say you hear about a good movie that hits theatres, you can jus type in the name and whenever its on TV later that year, it will automatically record it for you, or maybe if you have a favorite actor, just type in hisser name and there you, any movie that that person is in, is automatically recorded. And if you’ve already seen that movie, jus simply delete and move on. Another good thing with the TiVo box is that if you want to record American Idol or whatever, you can tell it to only record the first-run episodes, so if you go on vacation, you don’t come back to 74 tapings of American Idol, only what you missed. Now, I’m sure that if you don’t have TiVo you won’t lose all of your friend like I may have hinted toward early on. But, you probably won’t be as cool. I mean, come on, it’s science. | | posted: 3/14/2005 15:40 | Reply | PM | Edit | IP |
