 | this is what BDO was like for me did u hav to line up to get in to the mosh area??
ok heres my experience Because a girl died in the mosh last year they made a restricted area for the moshpit which you had to line up to get into.... The line was massive so I started lining up and hour or so before the Hives. Finally i came to the front of the line and the security guardes were not letting anyone through and then I heard them come on stage and start Main Offender.... and I nearly started to cry because I couldn't see a thing and i f****in love that song!! Then the crowd surged forward because we all wanted to get in so bad and i was so squashed i couldnt even move my lungs up and down to breathe but i pleaded with a security guard ' please let me through this is my faveorite band!! please!!' and then i got through but i had to wait for my friend OH the AGONY she slipped between one of the guardes legs and her head got stuck fro a while kinda with her face in his butt- yuk but very funny. ....and then i ran and i screamed like a phyco and i was goin to cry but thats really embarrassing ....and i saw Pelle... the hottest lead man ever and f****in hell i saw the hives going at it and i pushed my way through the crowd till i was close enough to the front and after feeling like i was goin to die in the stupid line i saw the best performance ever.... Pelle has such incredible presence- everything he said was so funny and argh he is so goddamn sexy omg i will never get over that one hour- only one hour!!! too short! but i couldnt go and see them at the metro as i am only 17 ...argh if i was one year older oh man!! They are an incredible band to see live..... Even my friend who barely knew who they were said it was the best time she had that day.... I went crazy everytime Pelle looked over my way- and he pointed in my direction ....best time i have ever had! wish i went to the metro waaaaah now tell me ur stroy
hey wat were some of the things eh said i cant remember all of them... so funny hgelp me out | | posted: 1/27/2005 17:43 | Reply | PM | Edit | IP |

 | Excellent! now that was a Good Story! thank you! We need more of those here. please - don't be shy, no-one else is! It just makes sense that if 30-50 thousand people are seeing the Hives Shine, that some of them would find their ways here. And tell us all about it. please | | posted: 1/27/2005 20:17 | Reply | PM | Edit | IP |

 | pelle was soo cocky i turned around to my friend and yealled with a big smile 'pelle is so arrogent' and i bloody loved it. all great rockers are arrogent eg. mick jagger its all part of it pelle would blow kisses and he would ask us to scream louder with his hand to his ear and he would say some really starnge stuff but he could say anything and we (the ausience that is) would think it was the coolest thing we have had ever heard and he would jump off the stage and touch everyone and strut about just like a lead man should he told us he was excercising us against bad music 'because you will have heard so much good music from the hives you will never bne able to listen to bad music again'- direct quote wat about when he was dramaticly crying after playing 'born to cry' hehehe 'you all look very hot our there. in sweden it is very cold and therefor we are very cool and we will cool you with our coolness' he said something like that and made swooshing noises cooling us wat else did he say? i was on such a high i hardly remember something about aliens hmmm it was so awsome i could believe i was seeing them fro real when i first saw pelle and his wild blue eyes are just went craaaaazzzzzzy it was the best

 | quotes i went to the BDO and the Hives were far and away the most entertaining band. i don't directly remember the quotes, but some of them went along these lines:
Are you ready to die and become vampires?! One day we are all gonna die but it's all right, so this next song is Die, All Right!
We are here to exorcize you from bad music. Bad music is the devil. Once we are done you will have heard so much good music that your ears will no longer tolerate bad music!
I, Howlin' Pelle Almqvist, has been called a c*cky motherf*cker, an *sshole, a wimp and a idiot. But you love me (cheering) so this next song is about me and how i do everything they told you not to do in school, and am paid well.
Who here went to school? You don't look like you went to no SCHOOL

 | reminising its all comming back to me thanks guys!!! wow how awsome i was in the mosh with all u cool ppl- mayb standin right next to u eh?
you asked me to try and complet "all you people are real nice and think everything is beautiful and are happy but it is not always so" so ill try he said that before playing born to cry he was saying how in australia we have never experienced a bad day caoz its so sunny and everything said above and then he said that in sweden however you can have very bad days where it is cold and grey etc
something like that
i remember when he first climbed down the rigging off the stage on the left side he was holding the microphone and reaching out to touch the fans. i was on the left up the front and as he came over the cord to his microphone ran oput and he said 'oh sorry not long enough' and everyone on our side was so disapointed coz the f*****n microfone cord was too short so pelle couldnt come our way. heh funny tho 'sorry not long enough'
yea i loved it wen he said '!, howlin pelle almvquist have been called a etc and i am getting paid to do everything they taught you not to do at school'
'who goes to school?' audience raises hands 'who went to school?' audience raise hands

 | PPL REPLIED!!! omg i didnt think ppl would actually reply to what i said. to tell u the truth, i'd never even heard of the hives 2 days prior to big day out. i bought the bdo album, and heard a hives song for the first time ever - two timing touch and broken bones which i liked moderately well. i got caught in the line for the hives not wanting to be there (i wanted to go see scribe), but there was no possible way i could get out of the crowd. when the gates were opened the crowd went wild, my thongs were in my hands and my feet were repeatedly stamped on, so i lifted up my feet expecting to fall down but to my surprise was carried along with the crowd despite not having my own two feet on the ground!! i looked on my left shoulder and there was a full beer can just pouring out everywhere, u cannot begin to understand how much i wanted out (me being a typical 16 yr old female!!!). we FINALLY got in, and they went off. the singer was absolutely amazing. though he was very cocky (as someone mentioned) he was awsome. i saw evermore as well...the singer was good but bcoz he didnt give it his heart and soul it wasnt newhere near as good as this dude. i am SOO happy i saw the hives, i've downloaded so many songs now, and i swear i'[m gonna see em live again and buy all their albums!! :D:D! i cant express how good they were, and i must say, i am very impressed that you guys all remember everything he said! thats amazing! well the hives are my "new favourite band" lol. which reminds me..(if it helps you remember their quotes) he said something about him being the devil. :S i dunno...well someone write back! i'm still stoked about it! xoxo | | posted: 1/28/2005 06:39 | Reply | PM | Edit | IP |

 | hey hive fanatic that is so funny you experienced that awful line also- im laughin aloud now remembering. funniest ever- HA you got carried alonf with your feet off the ground!! bet u learnt never to wear thongs there again ouch! i hated when the crowd would sway and all these people would nearly fall over and be burried under the sea of bodies scarey as. when that happened i grabbed on to the nearest male for dear life looking very stressed. that really stressed me out- scariest corwd experience ever. and f***it was horrible when the hives started playin and i wasnt out of the line and i remember pleading with the guard person- so funny. well it was fate that brought u to the hives- not wantin to be ther and all it was all worth it despite playing sardines with bout 100 people in a 2m by 2m area and gettin beer pourn on u. there were sum real druken f***s at BDO welcome new hives fan we are very happy for your discovery :) | | posted: 1/28/2005 06:54 | Reply | PM | Edit | IP |

wow u travelled all that way!
u no i remember speaking to a girl with red hair(at least i think it was red) in the crowd who seemed to be a fan - knew the words and stuff. i said 'if pelle looks over here lets both go crazy' coz we were around mostly ppl who were havin a great time but didnt seem like full on fans so i figured if we both did that we would get at least 1 second of his attention hehe. i wounder who that girl was... | | posted: 1/28/2005 07:10 | Reply | PM | Edit | IP |

 | frenzal rhombe i can imagine frenzal rohme would hav been insane it was at homebake last year- i got out of there asap. they make me laugh- you got to love the way the first thing they say at a gig is 'F*** you sydney' and evrybody cheers. i think they take things too far tho- with thier oppinions eg. at Homebake last year they had blow up dolls of George bush and john howard and they were bashing them up onstage. as much totally dislike them both i think that was just kinda sick- makes em as low as bush and howard. people like john buttler communicate thier views in a suttle (and not so publicity seeking) manner and its beautiful that way. i love johnny b. hmmm frenzal rhomb crack me up tho- theier songs are about nothing and then they throw in the odd 'save the refugees!' hehehe. i just hope no one takes them too seriously. luv u all al ps. did anyone see the polyfonic spree i have to wtrite all about that- that came in 2nd to the hives as most wounderful live performance | | posted: 1/28/2005 17:24 | Reply | PM | Edit | IP |

 | wooow you are all SO lucky! i am so jealous of all of you guys who got into the D section for the hives!!! i lined up to get in there for an hour and a freaking half before getting crushed in the line, where i was trampled all over after falling including people standing ON MY NECK! So as soon as they started playing i got the hell out of the line (after screaming for ages like a baby because i thought i was gonna die!) and went as close to the D section as i could where I was glued to the other side of the fence!
Man what a show the Hives put on. What an AWESOME show! Best band I have ever seen live by far in terms of FUN! When i love a band this much i usually cry but i was WAY too hyped and excited for all that and even though i was 50m from the stage. What pelle said was gold and haha i bet he almost spoke more than he did sing. What did you guys think of that *someone* And The Baritones (or something like that) song they did? Dude i was too young as well to go to the metro and i just read the best review about it in the paper! Sooo upset!
The hightlight of their BDO show was their last song, aka I-D-I-O-T, which when pelle said it was about him self it sent shivers right through me because it has always been my fav Hives song because i always thought that it was most like ME!
I hope the Hives come back to Australia real soon cos after that BDO performance i can bet their fans and the love will increase and multiply!

 | hi meekasaurous howeva u spell it yea i was defidently gonna cry when i first saw them up there but i held back coz i though - gee that is just so typical teenage girl in love with rock star- i love crying tho feels really good and i just wanted too i was so happy! that is such a bummer u didnt get through after getting ur neck trod on- how close where u to the fron of the line? u shoulda pleaded with the guard person like me hehe! he did talk more than sing eh? many a word of wisdom from HPA. i am quite sure that everyone only slightly familair with the hives fell in love at that performance. all we have to do is make that clear to them so us australian fans have to continue posting messages of adoration and let them know the demand for them down here. and also say no under 18 gigs!!!!
hey i also read the review!! and i went abouy the room groaning and stomping my feet mum is like 'what the hell is wrong with you'
it starts off like this 'if howlin pelle isnt the hottest, wittyest, sharpest dressed frontman in rock right now he has few worthy competitors. dispensing oneliners and asides with the timiong of a stand up comic, the irrististable stage presence of a young mick jagger and touch of princes's showmanship, Almvquist needs a crowd. hes born to it .'
also says:- gee this reviewer totally has the hots for pelle 'almvsquist, the epitiome of the beauty, fun and rediculousness of rock n roll- not the glorified junkie genious song writer type, but a real honest-to-god show off who connects with his audience- was the funniest performer i have seen in a long time'
also says sorry i have to write all thid out its great- gosh im a time waster 'he cans ing (scream anyway) but the best bits were his between song lectures to the crowd, his artful iggy-style strut, the Jagger-esque head flicks and hand on hip poses, the campy, stagey stuff with the mike stand, the microphone swinging.
'the hives baanced irong and arrogence'
'his wild maniac eyes, the flying leaps etc' about pelle ofcoarse
'if the hives ever let him down Almvsquist will snap up a job as a Vegas hype man or TV evangalist.'
it says pelle did a cover of a saints song and pelle said after 'every other band would cover AC/DC to kiss yo Oss-tray-lee-an Ass. hehehehehahahhohohoh so trrue
ANYWAYS tis a grrrrreeeeeeeaaaaaaaat review!!! GO THE HIVES AUSTRLAIA LOVES YOU

 | metro I didn't go to bdo, but saw the hives at their sydney side show at the metro theatre. They were amazing. I was right at the front and scruffed Pelle's hair and patted Nic on the back. They played heaps of songs, and I'm pretty sure they played every song from t hives. It was the first time I've seen the hives. I've got some pics too, theyr'e a bit blurry though. i've got a question about the red hives sign too - was that originally a neon sign, because it was just a fabric banner thing at the metro, but still really cool. | | posted: 1/30/2005 21:11 | Reply | PM | Edit | IP |

 | Metro I know this started out as a BDO thread but change is good for you.
I took a friend who had never heard or seen The Hives ever to the Metro show. The night seemed to start off slow when The Hives came on and Pelle called us on it. Posing the question 'Are you squares?' maybe it was our bedtime. He then asked us all to raise our right hand into the air...then slap our self on the face and I would say that most did.
As each of them began to shed their gleaming white jackets sweat has never looked so good, their black shirts clinging to their bodies as they performed. The stage seemed to buzz as Nicholaus weaved in and out of a jumping, dancing Pelle with only the occasional bump, spit flying from every direction, mics sailing in the air theirs stands seeming to fall only to have HPA tap them and set them right.
It was great to hear the old didies like main offender, A.K.A I.D.I.O.T, supply and demand even Mad man and to look around and see others singing along to them. They played most of the songs off T-Hives, A little more for little you was a terrific as too was love in plaster. All the songs sounded great and they just seemed to flow although a little more on HPA's mic would have been good.
HPA would have to be the best in between song talker that I have ever listened to. He began to tell us about a journey that The Hives took to hell, whilst there they met the Devil and they stole this song. The opening wails alert us that Diabolic scheme was that very song, Amazing. And I know that when HPA said 'thank you' that most girl's hearts would have melted.
Chris Dangerous struck an awesome figure behind his kit the darkened lights with the red glow of his smoke. Vigilante and Dr. Destruction off to the side silently standing there in unison, I found myself getting caught watching them and not the entire stage. Each of them owned their bit of the stage that night it was fantastic. Nicholaus just cut it up with his playing and attention to the audience. HPA's eyes seemed frantic as he moved around stage and went into the crowd. I'll tell you, there was this girl next to me that wasn't moving at all really; I suppose so was just listening, well HPA seemed to just pin her with his gaze and it was as if he was willing her to move because you could see her warming up then begin to jump around with the rest of us and by that time HPA had moved on. That's the best way that I can explain the presence that he had that night.
So when it was time to call it a night I turned to my friend and asked her for her opinion I got: Yeah it was all right, they've got an old sound but what was with the slapping and spitting? He's a bit weird. When I asked if she would buy their album I got a deadpanned No. That night proved that no matter how much love you try to transfer on to another for your music sometimes it just isn't going to stick.

 | My fave Quote from pelle at the syd BDO....(no i wasnt there :( but saw the performance twice on channel V<<life savers!)
"It is very hot here in sydney....we are from Sweden where it is very cold...therfore we are very cool people...and we have come to cool you down....with our cool music!!"
Just though i could refresh sum minds that were actually there! anyone remember that 1??
