that is totally not fair! you have a gretsch?! argh! I want a white falcon so bad (the original, not I or II) and Vig played one at the concert in detroit in july. I was drooling. I swear my jaw was on the floor. And the fact that you have 2 Fenders and so many other great guitars.... oh if I only had one...

Yes, indeed, I do have a Gretsch. I bought that one for about $600 off ebay and haven't looked back since. Most people don't care for that guitar because it's too snazzy but it looks real good in person. Much better than in the picture. Greg Oblivian from The Reigning Sound plays one.

I will own a White Falcon someday. it's on my list of purchases :)

Two quick things about Gretsch guitars:
1 - their pickups are not as hot as gibsons
2 - the floating bridge is a real pain in the ass.

That strat is sweet. That was my first "real" guitar.

It's really great for getting clean sounds. It sounds just like Hendrix' with the pickup in between the neck and bridge position. If I play it all the way down, it sounds like Stevie Ray Vaughan's.

The one thing it lacks is ballls though.
But it's not meant for that :)

The easiest way to do it is to just get a guitar and simply play.

The first things you will notice is that if you press down on a string and play that same string (hit it or pick it) it will sound different than if you hit it on another place on the neck.

Basically, what you should do is have someone teach you how to tune it and then get some tablature from guitarnotes.com (don;t go there without a pop up blocker or lavasoft or you'll get spyware though) and learn your favorite songs.

The thing to do is to just enjoy it and do it :)

that Memphis guitar is the last one I bought.
They were a company that made copies of Gibsons. The only thing is that their copies back in the 80s were better than the Gibsons themselves :)

The coolest thing about it is that the neck goes all the way through the guitar and that guitar sounds nasty. In a good way :) Very mean sounding guitar.

If you ever want a quality Gibson copy, memphis is a good bet.

I can't play Ibanez guitars
My hands are too big for the neck and I associate them with the likes of Joe Satriani and Steve Vai speed freaks.

I'm much more of a kick the shite out of a guitar 'till it bleeds kind of guy.

The reason I can afford them is because I'm no longer in HS :)

I saw that guitar. Tennessee Rose leftie I believe. Beautiful. Good deal on that one of yours! only $600, I'd buy it. I bet it sounds awesome even with the floating bridge and bad hook up. I do also like your fenders.... they make me drool too.

mine doesn't have the bad hookup. It's just plain sweet.

All Gretsches though have a problem with the strap knob. the screw is too short. But if you stick a piece of a toothpick in there and then screw in the strap knob you're good to go.

Yeah the Gretsch rocks it is the coolest. Chris Cheney from the Living End is often seen playing a white falcon too.

It's very nice. And the best thing about it is that it doesn't sound like a Les Paul at all.

That gibson is damned sweet :)

It's a 1961 reissue and the neck heel on it is soooooooooooooooooo tiny. It's so easy to play... and it sounds killer, too - just like The Who or Angus Young.
