Here in Canada (Ottawa) The Hives seem to have been largely forgotten about because of the long time between albums (except by me). But maybe that was actually a good thing - they might have got popularity overkill.

Hard to say how many actually like them, but they're pretty high on the billing at reading/leeds and i think maybe V this year.So they don't headline, but they're not far off it at the major festivals. if that's a half decent measure of popularity.

nope i've lived in l.a. for some years now, and here they've lost their spot in the limelight. Their peek of popularity must have been when they performed at the vma's in 2002. I haven't heard them on the radio since 02' either. I went to hot topic (clothing store that carries various music merchandise) the other day, and I asked if they had any hives t-shirts. The cashier looked at me as if I was retarded, he clearly had no idea what the hell i was talking about.

I want a Hives t-shirt so bad, and there's this stand that sells all these punk and rock bands, but they never have The Hives! There'll probably be a Hives popularity revival when their new album comes out, and then maybe they'll get the attention they deserve.

Don't think The Hives are that well known round here (south-east England), most people round here have no musical taste what so ever!! Seriously... Bloody 50 Cent, Blazin' Squad and Busted! :-S GET SOME TASTE! Lol sorry but I can't stand them! Hopefully this year will be The Hives year because they are appearing at a few festivals, and they have a sell out gig, so by the end of the year hopefully everyone will know them (and love them of course) :-D And maybe people round here will see the light and gain some musical taste!! Lol

There's way too much of it on MuchMusic (our version of MTV). Whenever you turn it on there's some stupid guy singing about bling-bling with nearly-naked girls crawling all over him. Blech.

France I think they are not very well-known in here, my boyfriend made me discover them but I never heard about them by another way, or maybe I saw once one of the video clip on tv, but that's all... And ah one day in a shop i heard some guy asking the salesman a hives' album... but I think it's good like that because a lot of bands when they are getting too popular decide to do "crappy music" (im actually thinking of rhcp with by the way but ok i know a lot of people love it)...

Mind you there was 'Find another girl' which I wasn't keen on, but that was a cover so I will let them off ;-) And I suppose it is better to not be as popular as most other bands because hopefully that will mean that we would have more chance of getting to their gigs :-D

Well... I do know that in the US, There have been articles in both Rolling Stone and Blender (the only periodicals in the states worth reading) about them recording the new album, AND... the article in Rolling Stone, though small, was on the cover of the magazine. Many of my friends are waiting anxiously for the new album. I live in Chicago, Illinois. (I know you said state, but seriously, Chicago is like a different state comarison wise).

Ergh... I really can't stand the word "bling-bling". There is something incredibly unintelligent about it...Rings alarm bells as soon as it's uttered. But anyway, bling-bling has nothing to do with the Hives....Unless they decide to go bling-bling, which, of course, would lead me to disown them completely....So yes. I'm entitled to agree with bacardibabe because, hell, she lives very near to me, and so it's hardly going to be any different, say, five miles or so down the road, is it?

Los Angeles nice to know there are people from la on this forum.. anyways..no, not everybody knows the hives but most have heard of them their music is played on the radio once in a while...they were on the television a couple nights ago and also on a popular magazine did this report on them, it was along interview and other magazines cover them once in a while....i geuss they're starting to spread the word :-)

Hives Not Played on Local Radio, Clear Channel to Blame The Hives aren't extremely popular here in my area of the U.S. (Fargo ND)....YET. But my city is hungry for some most excellent PUNK ROCK MUSIC!!!!!! that only the Hives can deliver. My people have to suffer through Metallica, Korn, Linkin Park and other such OLDIES on every "rock" station. Most of the songs they play are either WANK rock or mid to late nineties hardcore. Thanks for NOTHING Clear Channel BITCHES. In fact, Clear Channel invented the term "bling, bling", so blame them and boycott their radio stations. Sorry about all the shouting, had to get that out of my system.

I think if I asked my friends if they liked them they might be able to conjure up "Hate to say" but they are far from actually liking them. I'll bet I'm the onlyt one that likes them out of the 3,000+ people at my school. It sucks. No one likes real ROCK music any more.
