Do you think..
Do you think the Hives are becoming mainstream? Does it bother you that they're "everywhere" these days?

I don't really think they're becoming mainstream, cause after all, they are the Hives anhd they are the way they always have been. Although I don't think I would like it much if they started playing the Hives on "hit song" radio stations..

haha
sadly the hives have been mainstream years ago. ever since veni vidi vicious came out.

once your video is played on mtv, you're automatically mainstream.

but that doesnt bother me, i just care about the music.

er..
er... just because your video is played on MTV doesn't make you mainstream.. when it's on TRL and shows like that, it's mainstream.. when it gets as much play as Britney Spears it's mainstream.. when every single they put out is popular it's mainstream.. only song most people have heard of from the Hives is "Hate to Say I Told You So"... so uh, no they aren't mainstream...

 Mainstream = Bad ?
I definately see that the Hives are a lot more popular and mainstream, but I fail to see how that is bad. The Hives are the greatest band in the world, so why should it be bad if everyone knows about them and listens to them?

hmm
i dont think the whole idea of being a "mainstream" band is really that bad, it's more or less the crap that comes with being mainstream.

hmm, so in germany Tyrannosaurus hives is nr. 10 and in austria 17~.....in england number 7.
I think we will never see a small hives concert....just big shows! So I'm sad....because I like at most the small gigs, but I know just one person here in austria who bought TH, where are the other???, however, I'm happy for the guys, they worked really heard and the result we see

I ever questioned my little sister if she like a band or a LP, if she say its good than the music is mainstream......and yesterday she said TH is a good one!!!! OOOOOH MY GOD!

hey
yeah it kinda bothers me....i've been trying to get my cousin to listen to their music for ever...and then TH comes out and she tells me that she's downloaded it. ok first of all she stole from the hives, and secondly, why didnt she listen to them before? I mean, the more hives fans the better, but I dont want people to become hives fans just because they're popular at the moment and want to fit in.

Groupies . . .
Christy told me this. Pelle said that groupies come with the territory. He said if you kind of ignore them and when they approach you talk about something like fish, then they'll just go away. This was in a Swedish mag. Can you imagine talking to Pelle about fish? "I loooove salmon!"

I'm Pretty Sure The Hives Don't Mind
In all their interviews they seem to make it quite clear they like being popular or their album being popular. People seem to have a problem with when a band get's big but I think its great if youre sort of music gets popular that means more hives for everybody and less limp bizkit and britney spears.

I do agree
with some of you. I just don't like it when everyone suddenly likes a band they used to make fun of. And I don't want it to be impossible to get tickets to any of their shows. To be, the Hives are a mysterious band and they would lose some of that if everyone talked about them and put everything out there.. kind of. I dunno.

.......
as long as they don't change their sound, which means selling out, it doens't bother me that thsy become mainstream, whatever that means. It's funny when some stupid girl thinks she knows everything and I can shut her up easily by asking her a simple question an true Hives fan would know...btw Christy told me the same thing about Pelle talking about fish. He said it also when he was on Fuse, the band will talk about boring stuff so it calms down the rabid fans and stuff...good thinking

The Hives have sold them selfs out for a long time ago,, So, that was like.. their goal: To be mainstream
Well, at least they admitt it.
Honesty is good.

I'm sorry but...
to sell out is to change one's sound to be accpeted...they have not changed their sound to be accpeted, the rest of the world just woke up and realized how great they sound. That is what makes them great, the fact that we had to, in a sense, conform to them not them to our mainstream culture. True they have stated that they always wanted to be popular and famous, but on their terms. They could have been very popular back in 1998 if they became a typical boy band, but no they wanted to be famous by playing great garage rock, punk rock music. Music that is played on their terms
